How to choose a good web address for your business
Short answer: Pick something short, easy to spell and easy to say out loud, because you'll be saying it to customers on the phone. Use your business name. Add your city or trade only if the name alone is taken.
A simple test
Say the address to a friend once, then ask them to type it. If they get it wrong, it's too long or too clever.

Rules that save trouble later
- Skip dots and spaces. Letters, numbers and hyphens are enough, and they work everywhere.
- Use hyphens sparingly. People forget them when they type.
- Don't use a year or an offer. "diwali2026" goes stale.
- Match your Instagram handle if you can. Customers then only have to remember one name.
If the name you want is taken
Add your city or your trade: meera-kathak or meerapune. If someone has taken your name to pretend to be you, report the page.
On OurLink.is
Your address is ourlink.is/yourname. It needs at least four characters: letters, numbers and hyphens. You can change it later. The old address keeps sending people to the new one for 30 days, which gives you time to update your bio and anything you've printed.
